Rakesh Basant

Rakesh Basant is a Professor of Economics and Chairperson, Center for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) at IIM, Ahmedabad. His current research interests focus on public policy & regulation. His recent work has focused on competition policy, inter-organizational linkages for technology development (especially academia-industry relationships), strategic and policy aspects of intellectual property rights, linkages between public policy and technological change, industrial clusters, economics of strategy and the small scale sector in India. His Sectoral focus of research has been on Pharmaceutical, IT, Electronics and Auto-component industries.

He has been a recipient of the of the Ford Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Economics and has spent two years at the Economic Growth Center, Yale University, USA as a Visiting Research Fellow. He has also worked as an advisor and consultant to several international organizations: the World Bank, Intermediate Technology Development Group, U.K. and the United Nations University Institute of New Technologies, Maastricht, The Netherlands.

Jason Scott

Jason Scott is Managing Partner and Co-Founder of EKO Asset Management Partners. He has more than a decade of experience developing and managing firms seeking to sustainably manage and invest capital. He was most recently a founding Director and investment analyst at Generation Investment Management, co-founded by David Blood and former Vice President Al Gore, Jr. From 1999 to 2004, Jason worked as an executive and advisor with Acumen Fund, the Blue Ridge Foundation, and the Flatiron Future Fund/ Foundation in New York City. Prior to that, he was the President and COO of Togglethis, a software company based in New York City. From 1991 to 1996, Jason also helped found and build Public Allies, a community leadership program for young adults.

In 1998, the Rockefeller Foundation selected Jason as a fellow in its Next Generation Leadership Program. Jason served as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Duke's Sanford Institute of Public Policy in 2000. He serves on the board of youth development programs Groundwork, Inc., in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Public Allies. Jason received a BA cum laude from Duke University with honors in History in 1990. He received an MBA with Distinction though a joint Global Executive Program of Columbia and London Business Schools in 2004.
