Date: October 11, 2012, New Delhi

Over 250 sustainability leaders driving Indian businesses converged in New Delhi on October 11th at the Annual Summit of the Sustainable Business Leadership Forum to define the new Sustainability agenda: moving away from Sustainability investments as a means of risk mitigation to leveraging it for competitive advantage in operations. The event featuring several key figures from the country’s policy and business circles focused upon the sustainability imperatives facing the organizations as also ways in which these seemingly ‘painful’ and ‘cost inducing efforts’ can be successfully converted into newer business lines and revenue sources. This year’s summit focused on four key themes: Sustainable Manufacturing with a focus on- Success through resource innovation; Resource recovery Innovation with a focus on Closed Loop Systems; Sustainable Finance with a focus on Sustainability Reporting and Disclosure and Sustainable Energy with a focus on micro-grid based distributed rural electrification projects.

The Sustainable Business Leadership Forum is instituted by Sustainability Outlook, a division of cKinetics.

  • Parivartan 2011- Market Development Forum for Sustainable Products and Innovation

Date: March 24, 2011, New Delhi

Parivartan was designed as a market development and innovation forum with thought leadership in sustainability as the center-piece. The theme was around using Sustainability as a plank to improve business performance. The aim was to bring players in the manufacturing and production cycle together in a few verticals where sustainability is receiving greater visibility; with a goal to enable greater market traction for 'sustainable companies'.

This was the first forum in India to focus exclusively on driving adoption for sustainability initiatives in businesses by promoting the business case with decision makers: both on the production side as well as on the consumption front. To that extent Parivartan intends to be the forum of choice to promote sustainably driven market development and innovation.

Parivartan 2011 brought together key decision makers from organizations in the sectors that are going to be most impacted in the near-term:

    1.Processed Food and Beverages

    2.Textile and Apparel

    3.Automotive

    4.IT and IT enabled services

Theme: Addressing barriers for equity investment and raising risk capital for grid-connected solar energy

Date: October 29, 2010, New Delhi

Over the next 9 months approx Rs 2700 crores of equity capital will be getting deployed by Solar PV and Solar Thermal developers as part of the JNNSM. This number will go up as Phase I and Phase II of the solar mission progress in the next few years. A lot of emphasis on financing has focused on debt. Equity capital which takes the most risk has received less attention with the assumption that it will come from the project developers. As project sizes increase, project developers have no option but to seek external sources of equity capital. Today equity investment has been limited to a few selected projects. But if the JNNSM potential of 20GW is to be targeted, a streamlined equity investment process is a pre-requisite. With this backdrop India Carbon Outlook, in association with Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) organized an Official Side Event in DIREC 2010 on the topic “Addressing barriers for equity investment: Raising risk capital for grid-connected solar energy as part of JNSSM”- a discussion space for equity investors and project developers.
